I agree with your comments about Biden’s actions, and he lowered his credibility even more for me. I sent him a message (3 messages) during the campaigns, telling him I would not donate to his campaign, if he did not stop the genocide. He did not stop it, so I didn’t contribute to his campaign. I did vote for him , but I could not contribute to a person who allow genocide. He could have stopped it in ONE DAY, but didn’t . If everybody had done that, he might have listened!!! Problem,is genocide continues!!!!!!!!!!

Alas. I think you err in supposing Joe Biden to be a decent human being. If Joe were a decent man these things could have happened before Hunter’s pardon.

Agree and I subscribed to Ground News. Corporate media is more about making money these days than it is about providing the news that produces an informed electorate which is a basic need if our democracy is to survive. Scary times.

Thanks for subscribing. And yeah, i'm hopeful we can build momentum here with Let's Address This to keep them in check. So far we're growing and heading in the right direction.

I must disagree. I have said for 4 years that we need to fight for our democracy as hard as MAGA fights for trump or we would lose the next election. The concept that we have to go high not matter how low they go was/is/always a failed strategy when you are forced to compete against people who not care about laws/truth/conscience/the USC. That meant democrats needed to ignore the small and focus on saving democracy. The pardon has precedent, George H.W. Bush, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Donald Trump and Woodrow Wilson all pardoned family members. To hold Biden to a higher standard because……we go high, sorry, is just out of touch with reality, when weighed against trump’s promised revenge tour once sworn in. We will lose in 2028 if we don’t learn from recent history of what happens when you allow an ex-POTUS to run again after being responsible for violent attack and your own party refuses to call out the USSC for their part in making sure trump could not be held accountable. No, there wasn’t much they could do about it, but it was barely mentioned by dems in congress in real time and during the campaign. Dems in congress were too afraid of trump’s violent cult to speak out loudly and often. For all those reasons, we need stop the go high nonsense and attack them via public media at every new offense and insult to the USC and our democratic republic

I'm not sure I understand what you're disagreeing with me on? I don't make any objection Biden pardoning Hunter.

I don't want to agree with you, but I have to. It's baffling to me. Biden's present inaction is in such contrast with the first 3 years of his presidency.

Yeah I have to call balls and strikes and right now Biden is striking out.

I wonder if Biden after his lengthy political career has any realistic sense of the consequences of his policy positions, his congressional battles. There comes a point in some long term careers where one fights a battle for the sheer satisfaction of winning that battle with little concern for the long term effects of that win. I'm willing to speculate that Biden cannot even recall many of the details, or the arguments he put forward to justify some of his legislation.

I subscribed. I guess what I am hoping for is not only more punditry, even from someone smart and sensible as you appear to be -but also a different perspective, based on what you know.

I am not relying much on US newspapers anymore. So trying to get a sense of the country not filtered through their fine mesh screen that takes out everything that might piss off the type of upper middle class people they cater to.

I don't give a shit about Hunter one way or another--and I think Joe Biden is at least as much of an indication of US pathology as Trump, if a more subtle case study (the lying, harmful 'moderate').

This is all so meaningless and shameful!

Ro - thank you and well said. I hope I can meet your expectations. My commitment is to maintain a sense of justice and honesty about these things. I certainly have my political leanings, but I’ve never let those interfere with the dire need to uphold justice in all matters, especially when it’s against people that you might otherwise agree with on other issues. I also tried to prioritize calls to action in my work, so it isn’t just a question of pointing out what’s wrong but also building towards what is right.

Yes, it's very helpful for someone like me! I am more of a 'why WHY?' person. I will protest but I am more of a hermit who reads 10 books, and even then I doubt myself, and read 10 more. I am not good at conceptualizing political action. Yes, I write my representatives or protest. But I have no skills in that vein. So I try to find the people with good values that are, like you, and listen to their ideas for more concrete solutions, and try to add my support.

As a former journalist, I am appalled at the shallowness of some of the mainstream media coverage. Following groupthink is not journalism, but laziness.
