I understand that having a car insurrance is also so expensive that many doesn't even have liabillity insurance. If you explain to them that the reason car insurrance is expensive is because you pay for other peoples accidents and fender benders. Then I bet the same people will understand what you are saying.
In Norway it's illegal to drive a car without it having liability insurance.
And of course insurance is expensive here aswell. But liability on an older car is reasonably priced. And of course we already have universal low-cost healthcare. If you are hospitalized you pay nothing.
