The Qasim Rashid Show - Episode 122

ICC prosecution, strengthening communities through boxing, and funding actual public safety beyond law enforcement

Share

On this week’s episode of The Qasim Rashid Show I welcome back Jamyle Cannon, the founder and Executive Director of The Bloc Chicago.

Jamyle started The Bloc in 2016 to reach kids who were unengaged by traditional after-school outlets. The Bloc engages youth with the sport of boxing to provide resources and opportunities to young people and their communities. Since its inception, 100% of The Bloc's fighters have graduated high school and earned acceptance into college.

We discuss:

  • ICC prosecution of war crimes

  • Strengthening communities through boxing, overcoming the 10 year mortality gap in neighboring Chicago zip codes, and what do you do when donors pull funding because you support a ceasefire and release of all hostages? (Yes this actually happened and we need to talk about it).

  • Funding public safety goes beyond more money for police
