The universe gives us signs. We must lift our eyes to see the truth. Thank you.

I believe you are mistaken about whether Trump can vote. Florida law determines whether a convicted felon can vote by the state laws where the conviction happened. New York State law allows felons to vote if not actually in prison. Therefore, Trump will be allowed to vote in Florida. If he had been convicted in Florida, he would have been prohibited from voting.

Yes! I wish Qasim would edit that part for clarity. Florida defers to the state in which a felon is convicted. The only way Trump doesn’t vote for himself is if he is in jail during the voting period.

One minor correction: Florida law re felons voting has an odd loophole that says that if convicted in another state, THAT state's laws regarding voting take precedence over the right to vote. That makes NY State law in force. NY law says that a convicted felon can vote as long as they are not actually in prison. So he would be allowed to vote if out wandering around.

Hopefully, Judge Merchan will think long and hard and realize that particularly for this individual, probation and house confinement are rather akin to no punishment at all. Very much like telling your teenager they are grounded except to drive to/from school, to/from grandparents, there's the car keys, the internet, the pantry, the cable box, and the credit card for DoorDash. Now tell me how that is punishment? Nope, actual prison bars it has to be, no cell phone, no internet, no visitors except one or two attorneys and one or two family members, no TV, and very little ketchup. He has to do "real" time out.

The RNC just needs to get ready for the inevitable. This guy is NOT going to be available. Plan B needs to go into effect. NOW.

Mr. Trump had his bubble burst today, there was no deviation among the jury who clearly believed him guilty on the 34 counts. The evidence (receipts) pointed in one direction, no conspiracy to undermine his bid for the presidency, just plain old facts! Sometimes the truth hurts.

Donald Trump expresses facism in his ideals and racism at it’s worst- it really is time to take “ethnicity” and color out of our vocabulary and see beauty in diversity of culture and spirituality.

As usual, your take is excellent, Qasim. And he must be defeated, soundly, in November. Hopefully, those screaming in his defense will settle down and look at the facts. He was found guilty by 12 Americans, a jury of his peers. And my they all be safe.

Big thank you to Alvin Bragg. Good news here is that the corrupt billionaire purchased SCOTUS can’t overturn a state decision- who kept him in the running by hobbling section 3 of the corporate gutted 14th. His toadies rallying to the convicted pretender is so FredKKK.

Well said. I did not know the date of his fathers KKK arrest. One issue, It is my understanding that in Florida, if a person was convicted in a state that allows felons to vote then they can vote. In NY, he would need to be in jail to loose his right to vote, I hope this signals to the world that democracy in America is persevering and now maybe the mainstream media will cover more of President Biden’s achievements. A DT second term would be disastrous. Not voting for Biden as a protest vote makes no sense, that is just a vote for Trump. Hopefully this is another step in repairing/rebuilding world confidence that we are still a country of laws and want to cooperate with other democracies to help fix world problems , especially the threats of environmental issues.

One error. He can vote for himself. The laws that apply are the laws in the State where he was tried and convicted, NOT his state of residence. And NYS allows a felon to vote if he is not in prison. FL rules use the laws the felony was made.

Yes! This what I have read from several lawyers as well, but it is not sinking in. It all depends on sentencing and how long his prison sentence (if he gets one) is.

Bravo - excellent piece. Hearing he was convicted is the best news I’ve had in ages. ✊🏽 As you said, it’s still hard to believe that despite all this he’s allowed to run for office. 🫠 I hope it perhaps sways away those who are not dogmatically lost beyond hope.

Thank you! And yes, we can only hope. I'm curious to see how the other criminal trials play out...assuming he doesn't succeed in delaying them indefinitely.

THANK GOD!!! Let's hope the other "too old to run" old man can defeat him in November.
