Meta Increases Censorship to Protect Fascism
Meta's shift is a microcosm of billionaire capitulation to right wing ideology, and the need for new media strategies to stay informed—here's what I know works
This is not a feel good story, but it does offer a meaningful solution to injustice.
Meta went from banning Trump in 2020 to donating $22M to his library in 2025. Now, they are actively restricting content opposing genocide and war crimes. Fortune reports, “Progressive Instagram accounts saw 65% less reach after Meta curbed political content.” This isn’t the first time they’ve either blocked anti-genocide content or enabled pro-genocide content. Indeed, it was Facebook’s enabling of violent content that enabled the Rohingya genocide, a fact Facebook admits. And now that they’ve turned off fact checking in the USA, they’re putting Americans at risk. How do we best protect ourselves? Let’s Address This.
The Corporate Suppression of Truth
As a human rights lawyer, I’ve worked tirelessly to raise awareness about Trump’s authoritarian policies, his corruption, his pardoning of insurrectionists, and his attacks on immigrants, reproductive rights, and democracy itself. But as I and others activists and lawyers have done our best to raise awareness of Trump’s injustices, tech giants like Meta (Facebook/Instagram/Threads) are doing their best to de-platform and demonetize our content and advocacy.
Let me give you a real example:
One of my Instagram posts was demonetized and labeled a platform violation under “Objectionable Activity.” What was the content in question? This:
“The only real reason a President would pardon hundreds of violent, murderous insurrectionists—who killed police officers, injured hundreds more, and tried to kill the second and third in line to the Presidency—is in case he needed them to act again while again claiming plausible deniability.”
What about this statement is false or objectionable? I cite proven behaviors of aspiring autocrats, who often incite violence. Again, this is not my opinion. A detailed study in 2020 by ABC found that Donald Trump incited more than 54 documented acts of violence in just five years. That’s more than all other then living Presidents combined—who by the way were found to have incited exactly zero acts of violence.
And Meta didn’t just stop with censoring this one post of mine. Here’s a snapshot of the dozens of videos and posts I’ve made on critical human rights issues that Meta continues to censor.
Each of the above videos and posts on Meta discussed topics related to Trump’s fascist executive orders, condemning tax cuts for billionaires as Americans starve, rejecting anti-immigrant propaganda, refuting myths about reproductive health, condemning genocide, and yes, even condemning insurrectionists.
Meta’s response? Remove, de-platform, and demonetize. All to discourage activists from speaking up about these injustices. Well, I don’t give up so easily, and this is why I ask for your partnership and your subscription to elevate our call and work for justice.
Let me offer what that looks like.
My Response to Corporate Suppression
The fact is, I don’t share the above arbitrarily, I share it for three critical reasons.
One, as a living and breathing example of how lockstep the billionaire class is with Donald Trump. They will do everything in their power to protect him and his fascist ideals. The above receipts provide documented evidence of this collusion.
Two, this is why your support is so critical to help build platforms that will inform and demand accountability independent of billionaire censorship. When I invite you to subscribe to Let’s Address This, it is to help give voice to issues that tech giants and corporate media actively censor. We may not have their billions of dollars, but we can build a platform on the tenets of justice and factual accuracy. That is within our control, and that is empowering.
Three, because if we want a future committed to transparency and factual accuracy, then we need to invest in the orgs doing it right. Ground News is one such example.
The Solution: New Media and Ground News
I’ve always said, I don’t propose problems without offering solutions. This is not a moment to give up, but a moment to take action. We are not powerless against media manipulation. Rather, we have the ability to better control the information we consume, to identify bias, and to ensure that truth still matters—provided we take action.
That’s why I use Ground News—one of the most powerful tools available today to combat media bias and misinformation.
Why Ground News is Essential Right Now
Ground News isn’t just another news aggregator—it’s a game-changing tool that helps you analyze bias, track media ownership, and compare how different outlets cover the same story.
Here’s what makes it indispensable:
✅ Bias Analysis: It categorizes news sources as left, right, or center and evaluates their reliability—giving you a clear picture of how biased or trustworthy an outlet is.
✅ Funding Clarity: It reveals who owns and funds each news source, exposing hidden agendas.
✅ Transparency & Full Context: It compiles related articles on the same topic from different sources, allowing you to compare coverage and identify what’s being emphasized, exaggerated, or omitted entirely.
✅ Blindspot Feed: It highlights stories that are underreported by left- or right-leaning media, helping you escape echo chambers and stay informed.
Conclusion
Unlike billionaire-owned media giants, Ground News is subscriber-supported. That means it answers to readers, not corporate interests. Subscribe to Ground News through my link above and get 40% off their Vantage Plan—the same plan I personally use to research and write my articles.
Journalism and human rights should be based on truth. But unfortunately, we live in an era where truth is under attack. And while the corporate media apparatus has capitulated to billionaire oligarchs, we don’t have to. Meta will likely continue to censor and demonetize and de-platform my content critical of Trump’s corruption. But we have a choice. We can either sit back and let billionaire oligarchs control the narrative—or we can fight back with truth, transparency, and accountability.
I hope you join me in choosing the latter.
Stop supporting Meta. Just stop. As Musk has destroyed Xwitter, the Zuck's manipulation of the Metaverse proves the platform has outlived its social value. It's just another disinformation system lacking real public value.
They have taken stuff I have put up off cause it was pro democracy- kinda bs
