Keep Eyes On Sudan
A historic humanitarian catastrophe is unfolding before our eyes—here's how you can help decrease the suffering
Since the Sudanese Proxy War began in April 2024, the world has witnessed one of the gravest—and most ignored—humanitarian catastrophes. One article will not by any means do it justice, however, I am hopeful that you will use this information to help play a productive role in supporting those suffering and encouraging an end to this atrocity.
So, Let’s Address This.
What started the war?
A Sudanese run community platform, NasAlSudan, is an excellent source of accurate insight on Sudan. I provide below the content they’ve pushed out across social media. I highly encourage you to follow them on social media above and continue to elevate their content.
What is the current status of the war?
With each passing day the conflict grows more unstable. As NPR reports citing UNICEF:
According to UNICEF, at least 77 hospitals across Sudan have come under attack since the war began. Aid groups say that with the extreme fighting that’s resulted in the displacement of more than 7 million people, Sudan has become the largest humanitarian crisis in the world and that the attacks have made it difficult for health workers to respond and provide critical medical services to millions of people.
How can we help?
NasAlSudan created this helpful graphic on the three areas we can each support the people of Sudan. Deepen your knowledge about Sudan (by listening to Sudanese scholars like Guardian columnist Nesrine Malik, donate to grassroots organizations on the ground like the Sudan UN fund that is exclusively focused on the people of Sudan, and write to your member of Congress to demand action and peace.
Tens of millions of innocent people continue to suffer horrific atrocity in Sudan. It is critical we use our platforms to raise awareness and understanding, and most importantly, action to encourage peace and justice. Please share this content by NasAlSudan, and continue to raise your voice for justice for the people of Sudan.
You have my commitment to continue to elevate these key issues impacting human rights domestically and globally. Subscribe below for up to date insights going forward.

Qasim, I'm responding here to a different Post, for obvious reasons. The Chris Hedges Report: Once again I'm prevented from making a comment because of a paywall (so trumpian, so.....capitalist!). The shame is that Chris Hedges, in his visionary essay "My Thoughts On the Attempted Trump Assasination" has put our contemporary situation in a breathtakingly truthful perspective - brilliantly identifying what is imperative if our contemporary circumstances have a chance to avoid absolute oblivion (or a horrifying, authoritarian dystopia - which is the same thing!). Because his message is so important, I'll have to find another way to promote it other than by commenting on his thread. Pity!
I keep hearing that this is the greatest humanitarian crisis in the world, even worse than the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which is constantly in the news, yet no one has been talking about Sudan, until finally Qasim enlightens us. Thanks, Qasim! This is indeed horrendous! A nation whose citizens have been suffering for a very long time now.
