If you want another take on the speech seek out Shahid Bolsen on YouTube. It had me laughing out loud.

Thank you for breaking down everything. As someone who absolutely doesn't trust anything Netanyahu et al say – but perhaps doesn't know always how to articulate what exactly it is he's lying about – I truly appreciate this piece. Also "People have rights. Governments do not" is SO important to me and I'm going to use that when relatives go on about Israel's "right to exist."

BiBi has no friends, only hostages! I was sickened and appalled by the ovations given to the genocidal psychopathic beast! The thought of hard earned American tax dollars paying for the incomprehensible, grotesque bestial crimes against humanity being cheered on and celebrated by our public servants haunts me. They are the USrael Congress - whoring themselves out for square footage in a billionaire bunker understanding that our war and extraction economy is unsustainable. We see who you are. Rashida, as ALLWays, my deepest respect!

Qasim, can I trouble you to consider “ what if “ scenarios on a few topics of U.S. empire policy? I ask because I trust your answer.

If you think it not the place for this type of question just respond “Pass” I get it.

I’ve been looking for answers to, what if U.S. foreign policy were to negotiate fair trade with others for resources and labor?

To date, I read as a U.S. consumer, I owe a great deal to those suffering for my privileged life consuming hundreds more times others on the planet. I owe millions upon millions of suffering families surviving loss of loved ones, and suffering hidden slavery, hidden in plan sight by artful framing of our reality here in this privileged garden?

More than 800 interventions, accomplished through corruption, threat of violence or the act of violence maintains my low prices and endless stream of goods and services?

What if there was no violence enacted on Vietnam, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Bolivia, the list goes on and on to most American Colonized families unfortunately living in proximity to resources?

Could we acquire Lithium without government overthrow?

What would happen if the industry of war simply ended?

End gangster economics?

Are there socioeconomic models that could predict outcomes proving the value of a greater good?

I am grasping in a void of hopelessness, not seeing past hundreds of millennia humanity following violent instincts to succeed in paradigms and constructs believing what is known as success and the pursuit of happiness.

I get confused myself keeping the grammatical subjects apart in statements about Netanyahu, Jews, Israelis, the Israeli government, and Semitic people. But, that the protests in the US, which are hard to distinguish from those in Israel (except for there being a larger percentage of Jews taking part in Israel) — the very idea that he views them as antisemitic — is an insult to intelligence.

Reading Nancy Pelosi’s approach, which is to condemn Netanyahu in the name of the hostages, I wonder if this is the tack Harris also will take.

I welcome this debunking. Watched the speech through nausea and disgust. But the Lancet piece is an estimate, as you say, but based on an assumption of underreporting, not “documented deaths.”

Thank you!

I have one criticism of Yesterdays dispatch concerning Gaza: Israel withDrew from Gaza in 2006. Hamas’ charter still calls for the destruction of Israel. In 2007, Gazans elected Hamas as their leaders over a Palestinian Authority considered ineffective and corrupt. There has never been an election since, and a good portion of the people killed were even born in 2007.

Nevertheless, as someone who agrees with you on Netanyahu and wants a ceasefire but supports Israel’s right to exist (as well as Palestine’s), I want a future Palestinian state to recognize Israel’s right to exist.

I believe the blockade of Gaza, which periodically has sent rockets over civilian areas of Israel, was originally justified. But it has gone on for 17 years, crippling Gazans’ freedom of movement and their economy. That is untenable!

Hey, next door, neighbor intent upon your destruction is also untenable!

Jews are in America are speaking up for a two-state solution and I hope more Israelis will. I want leaders of future Palestine to stop focusing on destroying Israel and work at building a strong, effective, prosperous Palestine.

If I’m not mistaken, “withdrawing” while maintaining complete control over sea, air, and land access. This word “withdraw” is not the same as “grant autonomy.”

You are one of the only people (aside from me and very few others) I see talking about his speech basically being a call to war against Iran. It was chilling. The lies I think were to be expected. Disgusting. But, expected. What I did not expect was for him to say that Israel is the only reason Iran hasn’t nuked every city in the US (paraphrasing). It was unhinged. I literally gasped out loud. And the fact it was applauded?!?

He was definitely either trying to goad the US into war, or telling us he planned on starting one after Gaza.

It was absolutely unhinged. Netanyahu never saw a war he didn't like. It's remarkable that people can recognize he lied about Iraq and pretend he's not lying this time.

Sigh! Where to start. Antisemitism has been alive and well for centuries, following the expulsion by Roman soldiers of the Jews from Jerusalem . This diaspora flooded North Africa, other parts of the middle east, Egypt and southern Europe as well as eastern Europe with Jewish refugees gradually filtering outward, seeking places to settle. Even then, in the relatively low population levels of the time, an influx of alien people with a strange language, and and a firm conviction of their "chosen" status were less than welcome. As the European world shifted and shattered during the death throes of the Roman Empire and the slow ascendancy of Christianity, already riven by schism, hostility to Jews achieved the status of scapegoating, exacerbated by their mastery of monetary manipulation.. Usury, forbidden to Christians and Muslins alike was the lifeblood of Jewish survival and also their greatest vulnerability. The expulsion of Jewish settlements was rampant and brutal whenever indebtedness to Jewish money lenders threatened the ruling classes. Rich Jews had some means of self defense, poor Jews did not and suffered the most from the endless pograms. Despite all the systemic discrimination against Jews, the indomitable, unquenchable intellectual and obdurate survival tactics rose above it all and by the time of WW I Jews in Europe had adopted some protective camouflage and a precarious position in the modernizing societies.

By the end of WWI, "the last peasants war", Jewish scientists had made significant contributions to the slight superiority of the armaments used by the Great (Colonial) Powers. Subsequently these powers claimed the armistice as a great and virtuous victory. While they were divvying up the "defeated" German aligned nations of the near and middle east, Europe's Zionists pressed for a slice of the middle east roughly corresponding to the historic Kingdom of Jerusalem. Their pressure tactics were relentless and the Great Powers, chastened by the war, determined to profit from the spoils of war ruthlessly penalized the Germans whose deluded Kaiser had led them to ruination, and in a little regarded and vaguely worded declaration made a quasi- promise to the Zionists for a slice of Palestine . During the Interwar period, more pressing concerns deflected the recognition of the promise and nothing was done to make it happen. Impatient Zionists waving their declaration, descended on Palestine and began buying up and seizing Palestinian land to establish their promised land. This fragile incursion, in the aftermath of WWII was rapidly strengthened by the refugee survivors of the holocaust and thus began the desperate battles for a promised land, Europe had forgotten and never intended to enact. By the time they woke to their foolishness it was too late and the guilt of the Holocaust undermined their will to resist.

During the Rise of Nazism in Germany, Hitler's propaganda fifth columnists stirred up antisemitism to a fever pitch. North America was a specific target of their efforts and their success was extraordinary. The vast majority of Americans and Canadians were easily and casually persuaded to adopt antisemitism. It was "fashionable".

On the other hand, the middle east, post WWII, was in a ferment of anticolonialsm and resurgent Islamism. It rapidly became obvious that Israel, as it then existed in a perilous state of emerging democracy was the only democratic ally in the region., while at the same time it was reviled and attacked by all the former Muslim/Arab " protectorates" who were being robbed blind by Big Oil.

Big Oil, Europe and North America were always complicit in the subjugation of the Oil States. The slow but determined reclamation of control over their ancestral territories, fueled by petrol dollars is now complete and they can turn with a vengeance to the expulsion of the putrid carbuncle in their midst.

Israel's existential angst is well founded. Betrayed by antisemitic capitalism, their 21st c. actions are the culmination of the long hangover of European predatory capitalism. The same arrogant capitalism that is preparing to destroy democracy , and perhaps even autocracy with its own end stage kleptocracy.

The right wing activists everywhere on the planet are in hoc to the global kleptocrats. Netanyahu is hostage to his ultra right wing "Greater Orthodox Israeli " parties. The West bank settlers are financed , armed and set aflame by the Right wing demagogues propping up Netanyahu. No wonder non-Orthodox Israeli's are in open revolt.

Palestinians, whipsawed between Iran's proxy wars against Israel and the delusional cults of Orthodox Judiasm that adheres to the bloody old testament triumphalism; have fallen victim to the sweaty self serving desperation of Judaism's own version of its worst nightmare, a genocidal demented "Leader".
