Chuck Schumer Must Resign & Democrats Must Change or Risk Abandonment
It's become painfully clear the current Democratic Party isn't built to fight fascism, but as voters we cannot afford to sit silent—take this action to raise your voice today
At a rally one month ago Schumer screamed into a microphone, “We will fight, and we will win! We will fight, and we will win!” This week, he is betraying the entire Democratic Party base and voting with Republicans to fund Trump and Musk’s corrupt administration, handing them a lifeline to continue devastating our nation.
Earlier this week former Congresswoman
and I co-authored a piece asking whether Americans need a changed Democratic Party or a new third party altogether? Not 48 hours passed before Democratic Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer proved the point for us.This is not leadership. This is cowardice. It’s one big reason why the Democratic Party keeps losing. And until we change leadership, or the Democratic Party changes altogether, it will continue to lose. It does not have to be this way, and here’s what we as voters must do to fight back. Let’s Address This.

Voters - Take Action ASAP
Before diving into the crux of the problem, I am leading this article with the clear and easy call to action to maximize participation. We can still stop the GOP funding bill if we demand accountability and force Democrats to act. I am hopeful we can get tens of thousands of calls to Democratic Senators to hold the line against the GOP.
🚨 Call These Senators & Demand They Vote NO on the GOP’s Funding Bill:
📞 Each number starts with (202) 224-
📍 Schumer - 6542
📍 Hassan - 3324
📍 Peters - 6221
📍 Durbin - 2152
📍 Schatz - 3934
📍 King - 5344
📍 Shaheen - 2841
📍 Fetterman - 4254
📍 Cortez Masto - 3542
📍 Gillibrand - 4451
Here’s a simple sample script to follow:
Hi, my name is [Your Name], and I’m calling to demand Senator [Name] VOTE NO on the GOP funding bill. This bill gifts Trump and Musk a free pass, abandons working families, and lets the GOP escape blame for their failures. Americans are struggling, we're angry, and we need fighters—not cowards. We Oppose This Horrible Bill.
Will the Senator stand with us or sell us out? We’re watching, and we won’t forget. Thank you.
We Are Not Helpless—But Schumer is Making Us Weaker
Let’s be clear: MAGAs control the House, the Senate, and the White House. The Democratic Party is not in its strongest position, and every single day Trump and Musk are working to gut democracy, attack working families, and consolidate power.
And yet, when given the opportunity to use the one piece leverage Democrats have—forcing Republicans to own the government shutdown—Schumer is folding like a cardboard box in a rainstorm. The American people are begging Senate Democrats to reject the GOP’s grotesque funding bill. House Democrats are united in voting against it. The majority of Senate Democratic are demanding Schumer hold the line. Rather than force Republicans to own their failure and thus negotiate in good faith with Democrats, Schumer is throwing the American people under the bus and aligning with the very people he claimed he would “fight against and win.”
And he’s doing so with justifications so bizarre they defy comprehension.
Schumer Thinks Capitulation is a Strategy—It’s Not. It’s Failure.
What is Schumer’s justification to vote with Republicans now? He claims kicking the can down the road is the right move because, “Trump will be unpopular in six months, and then Republicans will be forced to negotiate in good faith.”
Really? Maybe Schumer needs a reminder of the past 4 years alone.
Trump was convicted of tax fraud. His company was found liable for decades of corruption. It did not diminish his popularity.
Trump incited an insurrection. He tried to overthrow the U.S. government. He then pardoned the white supremacists and Nazis (including the guy who wore the grotesquely antisemitic “Camp Auschwitz” shirt). It did not diminish his popularity.
Trump was found liable for sexual assault. A judge and jury in a civil trial ruled him a rapist as per the textbook definition of the word. It did not diminish his popularity.
Oh, and he’s absolutely pro Nazi salutes, viciously antisemitic, Islamophobic, racist, and misogynistic, and overtly xenophobic against non-white immigrants.
Even right now with the stock market crashing, a global trade war rising, and inflation and unemployment increasing, Trump is still more popular than Democrats and certainly more popular than Chuck Schumer. Given all of the above, why on earth does Schumer think that giving Trump even more time, more money, and more power is the right move?
This isn’t just betrayal. It’s utter incompetence.
Charlie Schumer is Charlie Brown, the Republicans are Lucy, the football is the GOP’s faux deal, and Chuck is yet again falling for it. It’s become painfully routine, and the American people are paying the price.
And ultimately here’s the point that Schumer seems to think the American people don’t realize. By voting with Republicans, he is handing Trump and Musk a budget bill with no limit on where and how they can spend funds. On what planet is giving trillions of dollars to two unaccountable billionaires a good idea? It is absolute lunacy.
The Democratic Party Has a Choice: Fight, or Step Aside
Finally, for those alleging Schumer doesn’t speak for the party, let’s be clear:
Schumer is literally the Democratic Senate Leader. His actions define the party.
If Senate Democrats truly found this betrayal objectionable, they’d remove him. They won’t. They are complicit. It is both uncomfortable and wholly necessary to acknowledge this fact.
We don’t need more politicians holding tiny signs and coordinating outfits while Trump consolidates power and enables fascism. We need leadership with the courage to fight injustice and hold the line when it matters.
But until that happens, we as voters are not helpless and we cannot give up. We can still raise our voices and demand action and accountability. I encourage each person reading this to not only call each of the above Senate Democrats, but also share this piece with your network and encourage them to call as well. And if you’re near Schumer’s office, pay him a visit as the young people below are this morning.
Schumer may have surrendered, but we still have power. Let’s use it.

Conclusion
Over the past month I’ve received thousands of message from lifelong Democrats saying the Democratic Party’s capitulation and weakness in the face of Trump has convinced them to leave the party altogether. People are fed up with cowardice, and Democratic Party still refuses to listen.
History will remember Mitch McConnell and Charlie Brown Schumer as the two US Senators most effective in getting things done for the Republican Party. And that’s the fundamental problem. It’s clear that whatever the outcome of this budget fight, Chuck Schumer is not the person to lead the Democratic Party. He should resign, and Senate Democrats should elect a new Senate leader—one who will not bow to Trump’s fascism, and one who will actually fight for America’s working people. Otherwise, the Democratic Party will continue to bleed supporters, and continue to lose to fascists.
The American people are exhausted. We cannot afford another moment of weakness.
The time for excuses is over. Fight, step aside, or be replaced.
Done. And this is what I said—all under a minute
Senator Schumer/Gillibrand
I can understand your fear of the uncertainties of a government shutdown.
But if you vote yes, these things are certain
1. You will have given your imprimatur to the harmful moves of the administration since Jan 20
2. You will have harmed all the lawsuits against Trump EOs and Musk chainsaw moves
3. You will have signed on to Project 2025
Bottomline: What’s certain is that you leave NYers and my family undefended against looming cuts.
Vote NO to cloture, to CR bill.
I feel that Schumer must be compromised, like the Republicans have something on him or his money is threatened or something. Otherwise what could possibly explain this? Time to pack it up!
