BREAKING: Harris Taps MN Gov Tim Walz for VP
Here's the quick rundown of what you need to know about Walz on the key issues
If you’ve followed my advocacy, you know I’ve been a strong proponent of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz from the beginning. He has led by example to fight for marginalized communities, working families, climate justice, and brings a wealth of experience to the VP role. Where does he stand on the issues that matter most to Americans, and how do we ensure the Harris Walz ticket wins this November?
Let’s Address This.
Who is Tim Walz?
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz brings an extensive background to public service. He served a 24-year tenure in the National Guard as a non-commissioned officer. Likewise, Walz worked for 20 years as a public school teacher, where he also led his high school football team to win the Minnesota State Championship. Walz knows how to win in red districts, as he did for 12 years as a Congressman. And during his six years as Governor of Minnesota, Walz has consistently championed policies that benefit working families and promote social justice, despite only having a 1 seat majority in the legislature.
Governor Walz Has A Stellar Record
Indeed, Governor Walz's accomplishments are impressive:
Housing and Economic Development: Secured $1 billion for housing initiatives. This is especially crucial as a shocking 27% of Americans are housing poor, i.e. they cannot afford to live where they live due to skyrocketing home prices.
Gun Safety: Enacted comprehensive gun safety laws because we know gun laws work. By contrast, JD Vance wants to further strip away gun safety protections.
LGBTQ+ Protections: Strengthened anti-discrimination protections for LGBTQ individuals. By contrast, JD Vance supports the fascist Project 2025, which calls to eliminate all legal protections for LGBTQ Americans.
Reproductive Rights: Passed legislation to protect reproductive rights in a post-Roe world. By contrast, JD Vance supports the overturn of Roe and continues to vote to ban IVF.
Climate Action: Committed Minnesota to achieving a carbon-neutral economy by 2030. During this climate crisis, this is the urgency we need on the federal level. By contrast, JD Vance supports the Project 2025 claim that climate change is a hoax.
Child Poverty Reduction: Governor Walz successfully cut child poverty by one-third in Minnesota. He instituted universal school meals without means testing, ensure all children in Minnesota are fed. That led to this iconic photo below. By contrast, JD Vance voted to end the child tax credit on the federal level, which increased child poverty by more than 12%.
Education: As a career public school teacher, Walz has been a champion for public school education and teachers, signing numerous historic bills into law. Bills that decrease the retirement age for teachers with full pension, raise salaries and collective bargaining rights, and reduce classroom sizes. By contrast, Vance voted against free school lunches, and instead supports private school vouchers instead of properly funding public education.
Labor Rights: It is no wonder labor unions love Walz as he’s worked worked diligently to enhance labor protections. By contrast Vance opposes the PRO Act, remains silent as Republicans strip away protections and instead enacts child labor approvals.
Cannabis legalization: Walz’s work to legalize cannabis is historic. Upon signing the legalization bill in 2023 he said:
We've known for too long that prohibiting the use of cannabis hasn't worked. By legalizing adult-use cannabis, we're expanding our economy, creating jobs, and regulating the industry to keep Minnesotans safe. Legalizing adult-use cannabis and expunging or resentencing cannabis convictions will strengthen communities. This is the right move for Minnesota.
This is also a huge win for criminal justice reform, as Walz’s bill automatically expunges non-felony cannabis offenses.
Paid Sick Leave: At a time when the United States is the only developed nation in the world that does not gaurantee paid sick leave on the federal level, Walz implemented paid sick leave policies in Minnesota. JD Vance, unsurprisingly, supports GOP initiatives to prevent paid leave from becoming a thing.
Walz Is A Unifier
Tim Walz stands out for his pragmatic and inclusive approach. He was among the first politicians to call for an immediate ceasefire and the release of all hostages in Palestine and Israel. When addressing the Uncommitted Movement, Walz chose not to condemn or demonize them, but instead compassionately acknowledge their civic engagement and emphasized the importance of listening to diverse voices. Walz said:
These folks are civically engaged. This issue is a humanitarian crisis, they have every right to be heard. These folks are asking for a change in course, they're asking for more pressure to be put on.
Walz’s roots and appeal in the Midwest are crucial for securing key states like Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan—all critical to win in November. His authentic connection with working-class voters and his track record of effective governance make him a formidable candidate to bring the Midwest into the Democratic column.
And finally, supporting Walz also means making history with Peggy Flanagan. Flanagan is the current Lt. Governor of Minnesota. With Walz’s election to VP, Flanagan would have the chance to become the USA's first female Native American Governor. This would be a groundbreaking step forward in representation and inclusion.
Conclusion
Tim Walz is not just a seasoned and effective leader; he is a compassionate and forward-thinking visionary. His policies and principles align with the values that can unite and propel America forward. Supporting Tim Walz for Vice President is a step towards a more just, inclusive, and prosperous nation.
You have my commitment to continue to hold politicians and media accountable. I support Walz for VP, but that does not mean I will ignore unjust policies. Indeed, we strengthen our democracy and country by voting for the person we feel best represents our values, and then holding them accountable to those values. Today is a good day for democracy. The right candidate, who supports the right policies embraced by We the People, got the nod. With less than 100 days until Election Day, we have a chance to make history.

As a Minnesota resident, I can assure you that he is the same person unscripted and off-camera. I like to believe he represents the meeting point of pragmatic policy and collective conscience. I am grateful for Harris’s choice and for your endorsement.
I’m relieved it wasn’t Shapiro. Anyone who has served in the IDF and has called all Palestinians “battle minded” (politically correct way of saying savages) then I don’t want him in the WH or anywhere near it. He tried to use the excuse that it was “when I was 20 years ago.” And he no longer believed it, then why not delete the tweets that he posted. Right. Because he believes that crap still! No thank you.
