Eighteen months before his death, Professor Carroll passed by me in the hallway and stopped. “I don’t mean to bother you, but you’re Qasim Rashid, right?”
I turned to see a well-dressed, handsome individual. He wore a suit and a trimmed, graying beard. His piercing blue eyes matched his tie, and his smile was as authentic as they come. “Yes, Professor, I apologize — I’m afraid I don’t know your name.”
“I’m John Carroll,” as he extended his hand, “do you have a minute?”

About Qasim Rashid
Qasim Rashid, BSc, JD, is an American-Muslim human rights activist, writer, and lecturer on American-Islamic issues.
Qasim received his Bachelors of Science in Business-Marketing from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He completed his Juris Doctorate at Richmond Law, where he was awarded the prestigious Nina Kestin Service Award for unsurpassed contribution to legal scholarship. He is a national spokesperson for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community USA (the country’s first American-Muslim organization) and serves as a Volunteer Chaplain for the Virginia State Prison system.
Prior to completing his J.D., Qasim worked for several years in both the education and telecommunication sectors.
He resides with his Wife and Son in Richmond, Virginia.
Muslims for Peace 9/11 Remembrance Blood Drive at Richmond Law School
On September, 11th, 2011, the Muslim Law Student Association at Richmond Law hosted the Muslims for Peace 9/11 Remembrance Blood Drive. This remarkable event brought in 103 donations, saving up to 309 lives.
