Human Rights Argument Against French Veil Ban

December 10, 2011 Leave a comment

I was invited to participate in a George Mason University production on France’s veil ban. During the lecture, I was part of a small studio to question the French presenter, who spoke in favor of the ban.

In sum, France’s argument to ban the veil is as follows:

1) France believes in fraternity as the essence of its culture. A veil restricts fraternal ties and therefore cannot be tolerated.

2) Security
