Why are you Muslims in my Christian country?

September 10, 2011 Leave a comment Go to comments

The below email was sent to me in response to my 9/11 10-year anniversary Op Ed published in the Virginian Pilot.

In addition to berating Islam, Prophet Muhammad (sa), and all Muslims in general, the emailer calls “most American women” adulterous, calls Christians wusses, and wants to expel all Muslims from America.

Be forewarned, however, the following words are not exactly kind. Share your thoughts – agree or disagree – in the comments section.

Original Email

To: Qasim Rashid

Dear Mr. Rashid,

You tell us that American Muslims nationwide will collect 10,000 blood donations to save 30,000 lives of their fellow Americans. You wish Americans to know that Muslim are not all bad.

My dear man, I have read your Quran. I read your imams referring to me as a corrupt Christian pervert. I see Muslims acting nice, all over the world, when a small minority but, once they grow in numbers and strength, I see them struggling for power and control. I remember Kosovo. I have heard of Chechnya. Sudan is now divided with half the country going to Muslims. I know of Muslim burning Christian churches all over the world.

I know of Muslim terrorism all over the world, Philippines, Thailand, bombings in India and Russia. There were bombings in Europse, Spain, London, riots in France.

Dear Mr. Rashid, you may fool the naïve and the moron but you are not fooling me. (emphasis my own) It is my duty and responsibility to make sure you don’t fool my family down to my great-grandchildren, and my friends and their descendants.

“And kill them wherever you find them, and drive them out from whence they drove you out, and persecution is severer than slaughter, and do not fight with them at the Sacred Mosque until they fight with you in it, but if they fight you, then slay them, such is the recompense of the unbelievers:” (Sura 2:191)

“The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and the apostle and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement:” (Sura 56:33)

Muslims are encouraged to move to the land of the infidel, to appear peaceful until they grow in numbers and then strike. Lies and deceptions are not dishonorable nor sins to Muslim if it means advancing the rule of Allah.

I’m sorry but it will take a lot more than 10,000 blood donations to convince me. (emphasis my own)

Since Muslims already own 20% of the world, why are you in my country, America, 5% of the world? What is your motive?

Response #1 to Mr. Goback Home

Dear Mr. Goback Home,

Peace be with you. I hope you are doing well. Thank you for your email.

I could respond to your concerns and address them, but I don’t think that will really convince you otherwise.

But if you’re ever in the Richmond area. Give me a call. I’d love to buy you a cup of coffee or even dinner, and address your concerns in person.

In the meantime, fortunately for me, you’ve given me an easy out.

That is, if 10,000 blood donations won’t convince you that Islam is a peaceful faith….do share, what number of blood donations would convince you?

I sincerely await your number and thank you again for writing. God bless you.

Mr. Goback Home’s Reply

Dear Mr. Rashid,

In your email, you say that nothing can convince me. On that, we agree.

During WWII, nothing Hitler could say convinced me that exterminating Jews was the right thing. Nothing can convince me that honor killings are the right thing. Nothing can convince me that stoning adulterous women is the right thing. (In America, stoning an adulterous woman is the near extinction of women.) (emphasis my own)

There are some things about Islam that I like. I like the way Islam punishes criminals. By my impression, there is very little crime in Muslim nations outside the criminal behavior of the ruling class. I like the way Islam protects the virtue of its women. I especially like the way Islam defends its prophets against insults; in this regard, Christians are forgiving wimps and wusses.

Were I king, there would be no Muslims in my country. Muslims are not to be trusted. It is their duty to bring the rule of Allah throughout the world, by hook or by crook. Any Muslim who feels otherwise is a hypocrite Muslim. Therefore, I would want no hypocrite in my country.

My country cost a lot more than 10,000 donations. In the past wars until now, we spilled tens of millions of donations to arrive at where we are. An ocean of blood would not buy my Christian nation. (emphasis my own)

Response #2 to Mr. Goback Home

Dear Mr. Goback Home,

Peace be with you,

Thank you for your reply. I shall be grateful, therefore, that you are not king.

But if I were king, I would rule with justice, equality, and ensure complete religious freedom, just as Islam teaches. I would especially protect the rights of Christians, just as Prophet Muhammad taught.

And I would pray for those who considered themselves my enemies, just as Jesus Christ taught.

The offer for coffee or lunch still stands. My treat.

God bless,

Qasim Rashid

Excerpts from Pentagon papers

(circa July 2006)

So far the conclusions of intelligence analysts assigned to the project, who include both private contractors and career military officials, contradict the commonly held notion that Islam is a peaceful religion hijacked or distorted by terrorists. They’ve found that the terrorists for the most part are following a war-fighting doctrine articulated through Muhammad in the Quran, elaborated on in the hadiths, codified in Islamic or sharia law, and reinforced by recent interpretations or fatwahs.
According to the Quran, jihad is not something a Muslim can opt out of. It demands able-bodied believers join the fight. Those unable — women and the elderly — are not exempt; they must give “asylum and aid” (Surah 8:74) to those who do fight the unbelievers in the cause of Allah.

It also notes that unlike Judaism and Christianity, Islam advocates expansion by force. The final command of jihad, as revealed to Muhammad in the Quran, is to conquer the world in the name of Islam. The defense briefing adds that Islam is also unique in classifying unbelievers as “standing enemies against whom it is legitimate to wage war.”

Right now political leaders don’t understand the true nature of the threat. And as a result, we have no real strategic plan for winning a war against jihadists. . ..

Response #3 to Mr. Goback Home

Dear Mr. Goback Home,
Have you ever met a Muslim in person?peace be with you,
Qasim Rashid
Mr. Goback Home’s Reply
No, I have never met a Muslm but, I’m sure that if they do things by the book, they are very nice. It is what they are supposed to be, in the beginning. At this time, and a Christian, I would feel safer in a Muslim neighborhood than a black one. (emphasis my own) If you read the Virginian Pilot, you understand what I mean. If you are a student in ODU, I’m sure you know hat I mean.

Response #4 to Mr. Goback Home

Dear Mr. Goback Home,

Peace be with you.

The Imam of my mosque here in Richmond is a Black, Muslim, Immigrant – and one of the most wonderful, kind, compassionate human beings I have ever met. So no, I do not understand what you mean, nor will I ever. Islam (like the teachings of Christ) asks us to view others by the content of their character, not by the color of their skin).

In your view, would it be fair for me to judge you harshly, the way you are judging Muslims, if I had never met a Christian, but only read about the KKK?

The offer for coffee or dinner still stands.

God bless,

Qasim Rashid

Mr. Goback Home’s Reply

Dear Mr. Rashid,

You are very persistent and convincing. I am starting to like you. As an individual, I’m sure that you are a nice buy.

What I know of Islam is that its mission is to bring the rule of Allah throughout the world. The difference with Christianity is that Jesus wishes only that his apostles spread His doctrine on earth, and not to rule it. The doctrine of Jesus is summed up to love God, and to love neighbor as one’s self. That’s it.

By my view, Jesus has no rule for punishing wrongdoers, only, that They will one day face God who is the final arbiter of punishment. Personally, I believe evil needs to be dealt with severely in this world. One kills the evil doer in this world and let’s God decide what to dot with the soul. I believe in forgiving an evil enemy after he is dead.

In times past. Muslims have invaded my ancestral land, France, and attempted to conquer by force. The difference between Christianity is peaceful missionaries willing to give their lives for Jesus versus Muslims using violent force and making other people die in the name of Allah. Jesus died for us; Mohammed makes us die for him. Big difference.

Jesus dispatched his apostles to “go therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.”

Mohammed dispatched sword wielding warriors to convert neighboring nations. It is a French hero, Charles Martel, who stopped the invasion of France by countering violence with superior violence  and killing marauding hordes of murdering Muslims. Martel did not waste time in negotiations, cease fires, trade land for peace. He got down to it and fought fire with fire. Muslims retreated to Spain where they had a presence for 800 years. Muslim presence in Spain was not purged until 1492, the year Christopher Columbus discovered America. What if Muslim had discovered America……….?

All religions of the world respect life. Only Islam will deliberately take human lives and expect a heavenly reward as a martyr if killed in the process (as with suicide bombers). By my view, a religion is not of God that will massacre fellow man in the name of God.

I see Islam as a dangerous thing that grows to engulf its enemies. (all non-believers are enemies)  How do I know? One need only to study its history. Once, there was one man with an inspiration. Today, one has become more than one billion. Islam’s goal is to terrorize and conquer its neighbors. It started in Mecca and now it stretches to Indonesia to the east and Morocco to the west. From East to West it spans 10,000 miles of the globe.

In addition to the Mideast, Muslim terrorism is active in the Philippines, Thailand, India, China, Russia. Muslims have bombed in Spain, England, rioted and burned in France. They have stolen the province of Kosovo from it original owners (aided by a US military force that killed Christians in order to help Muslims in that struggle). Muslims are persecuting Christians all over the world and burning their churches. After killing enough Christians, Muslims have effected  the division of Sudan and established Sharia in the north. Muslims blow up their own people and kill each other throughout the Mideast. Muslim imams have called for the destruction of Western civilization (that’s me and my Christian family). Muslims are a plagued whenever and wherever they reach a critical population level. Muslim don’t assimilate; they make the host nation assimilate in their culture.

Yes, Rashid, you are seducer par excellence but I am not easy prey. (emphasis mine)

Yes, there are things I like about Islam. Islam is tough on crime, tough on sexual perversion, tough on many sins, tough on its enemies. There are things we need to emulate about Islam and to implement without converting. Prayer rugs don’t appeal to me.

Response #5 to Mr. Goback Home

Dear Mr. Goback Home

Peace be with you.

You complimented me that I am a nice person. Thank you. If I am, it is because of Islam, not in spite of it.

Now, take all those incorrect allegations you’ve made about Islam and Muslims (and history in general), and kindly answer the question I asked you in my previous email.

Would it be fair if I blanket judged all Christians based on the actions of the KKK, Slavery, the Inquisition, Native American genocide, the Lord’s Resistance Army, etc – without ever having actually met a Christian? Would that be a fair thing to do?

What is a good place we can meet up to grab a bite?

God bless.

Qasim Rashid

Mr. Goback Home’s Reply

Dear Mr. Rashid,

I must first apologize for typos. In one instance, the intended word “guy” became “buy” and escaped me.

You say that you are a good person because of Islam. I hope to think that is not true. You are good because you are basically good. We have many good people in the world who are not Muslim. By my view. Many people are also bad because of Islam. Hopefully, if are to discuss politely, I can fix my erroneous impressions.

You say that “all those incorrect allegation I made about Islam and Muslims are not true.” Please take them one by one and correct my allegations.

I don’t know what is the question you want me to answer. Could it be, ”Would it be fair if I blanket judged all Christians based on the actions of the KKK, Slavery, the Inquisition, Native American genocide, the Lord’s Resistance Army, etc – without ever having actually met a Christian? Would that be a fair thing to do?”

First, the KKK is not a religious group. The KKK is a fringe group very small in number with no influence on Christians. The KKK never killed anyone in the name of God, Jesus, or anyone else. The group has a valid point. They are dedicated to defending, protecting, and preserving the white European culture. Of course, Christianity happens to be part of America’s culture. They have very little influence outside their compound. Besides, they haven’t killed anyone in 50 years, more of less. The KKK were/are mostly hostile to blacks who were seen as contaminating the white race (and they are). The KKK were only active in the United States and not around the world. The KKK does not now or ever killed people as a way to convert to their belief. The number of KKK is miniscule in comparison to Muslim in the world, as one grain of sand on the beach.

Some groups you name I never heard of, therefore, you are desperate to find violent Christian groups in comparison to Muslims terrorizing in large numbers around the world in the name of Allah.

The Inquisition is ancient history. I am more concerned with the here and now.

The genocide of Native Americas has nothing to do with religion or conquering the world in the name of Allah, or Jesus. Besides, it is said that most Native Americans died of European diseases to which they had no immunity. Those who died as a result of military action did so as a matter of conquest. To keep from dying, they needed only to surrender. (Same as invading Muslims who spare those who submit to Allah).

Slavery was practiced around the world. It is white Christians who for the first time in human history abolished slavery. It was, and still is, an institution practiced by Muslims in some places. Muslim were very involved in raiding African villages taking slaves to market cities on the coast of Africa. It is white European firepower that destroyed slave bases along the African coast. In modern times, Muslims are still active in slavery (google “modern slavery muslims”)

I had never heard of The Lord’s Resistance Army until you mentioned it. I see that it was a small fringe group in Africa. What makes you think they were Christian? I saw no mention of this in Wikipedia that says, “During its brief alliance with the Muslim country of Sudan it also claimed to be Islamic as well,…”

As for meeting with you, I am a humble man, a slow thinker. In a discourse, off the cuff, I am awkward and hesitant. I have trouble composing my thoughts quickly. I have very limited memory and limited IQ. I do a lot of googling to find what I want.

I think I see what you are alluding to when you say I am incorrect in things I say. I was rereading. In one remark, I said that Mohammed dispatched troops to conquer neighboring nations. I agree that this is not accurate but not far from the facts. Mohammed did use an army to conquer Meccans and subdue them. It is after Mohammed’s death that Islam was imposed on neighboring nations subdued by conquering armies. At the time, most of North Africa was dotted with Christian communities having been converted by peaceful means. It is the successors of Mohammed who dispatched troops to convert. Christian missionaries used persuasion; Muslims used the sword.

In order to correct my errors, I prefer email.

After five requests to meet, Mr. Goback Home finally said no. That, fortunately or unfortunately, is the end of our dialogue…for now.

As a Christian, I would ask Mr. Goback Home to review his New Testament, specifically the teachings of Jesus, which include a directive to love our neighbors as ourselves. Our neighbors are not all Christians.

Rebecca – I am not quite sure he has actually ever read the New Testament

I had no idea the french were so ready to fight!

Recent history seems to paint another picture of the french – but maybe that is what has “Mr. Goback Home” so up in arms. Many Westerners feel their civilization crumbling from the inside out and seek an external enemy or a secret enemy within to give them some kind of rallying and unifying cause. Islam, therefore, becomes the easy scapegoat of the day.

Of course, Mr. Goback Home (did he really sign his correspondences with this? : ) seems to be reading anti-Islamic pseudo-scholars and websites for his portrayal of history. It’s almost laughable his depiction of the doctrines of Jesus being spread via peaceful, loving missionaries with bluebirds on their shoulders. The Spanish conquistadors and French tortured and slew many a Jew, Muslim and pagan within their borders and outside of them for centuries before and after Islam’s rise and fall.

I understand many Westerners’ fears of Islam – I am a Muslim and many so-called Muslims and their bizarre and brutal interpretations of Islam scare me. It all boils down to real example and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad SA. If these are truly and objectively studied, one can never accept the ravings of the fanatics parading as Imams.

If one is inclined to read the true interpretation of Islam by a community that has peacefully existed in Western countries and all over the rest of the world for over 100 years, please see: http://www.alislam.org
